Matching empty homes with house buyers

Glasgow Credit Union is supporting the Glasgow Matchmaker Scheme, which aims to match owners who are trying to sell empty properties, with people looking to get a foot on the property ladder.  The Matchmaker Scheme, run by Glasgow City Council in partnership with the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership, is a FREE service which helps contribute to the aims of the ‘Glasgow’s Local Housing Strategy’.

If you are interested in joining the Matchmaker Scheme to gain information on empty properties for sale, contact Barry Sheridan, Glasgow Shared Services Empty Homes Officer on 0141 287 8406, or barry.sheridan@drs.glasgow.gov.uk.  Once you join the scheme you’ll be able to access the list of empty homes and make contact with the owners.

Members can also benefit from The Mortgage Guarantee Scheme provided by Glasgow Credit Union and Glasgow City Council.  This unique partnership, initially launched as a 2 year pilot scheme in August 2015, offers prospective buyers with an opportunity to get a 100% mortgage to purchase properties in specific areas of the city .#   Glasgow City Council is even offering to meet the first £500 of buyer’s costs if the chosen property has been empty for more than six months.*  For full details of The Mortgage Guarantee Scheme, call our mortgage team on 0141 274 5444.
