Our Community Engagement Officer, Gillian, was out awarding another Heart of Glasgow Award earlier this week.
The deserving recipient was Munir Emkideh, who works at the Maryhill Integration Network, providing vital support to families who are new to Glasgow. Munir helped set up the Family Nest Group, which engages with diverse families in the Maryhill area, most of whom are seeking asylum or who have been granted refugee status.
Munir came to Glasgow from Syria in 2013, and has been volunteering since the moment he arrived. His colleague, Rose Philippi, who nominated him for the award told us ‘Munir and his family are inspirational and make a huge difference in the community.’
