East End Carers Benefit from Giving Glasgow

Eastend Carers donation

Giving Glasgow is our charitable giving fund, which helps improve our community through donations to local charities and good causes.

We recently donated £400 to Glasgow East End Community Carers to purchase toys and sensory equipment for a much-needed playgroup at the Carers Hub. The Carers Hub is a new service for carers in the east end of Glasgow, launched in May 2016. They provide a variety of services and activities which aim to build capacity, reduce isolation, improve carers’ health & wellbeing physically and emotionally, and reduce their levels of stress.

One of the activities currently in development is a playgroup for children with additional support needs. The playgroup will provide an opportunity to meet with other parents and their children in the local area who are in similar circumstances, helping them feel more supported and informed. There are plans to turn one of the rooms at the Carers Hub into a sensory room, a specially designed space to develop a person’s senses through special lighting, music, and objects.

We’re encouraging all members to help us by nominating organisations that you think could benefit from a donation. Nominating is simple, just download and complete the Giving Glasgow application form, and return to us by post or by email to [email protected]. Applications are reviewed monthly.
