Cancer Support Scotland have been supporting those affected by cancer for over 40 years. Based in Glasgow within the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre Campus, they offer wellbeing services – such as counselling, ‘Here for You’ wellbeing calls, and stress management workshops – to those affected by cancer.
Following a cancer diagnosis, people often experience feelings of distress, anxiety, isolation and may even experience suicidal thoughts. Early intervention to avoid preventable mental health crises is important at this time.
A survey conducted by Cancer Support Scotland found that after just 6 hours of one-to-one sessions their service users reported: a 58% reduction in feelings of stress and anxiety and a 55% reduction in feelings of loneliness and isolation.
The charity received a £1,000 donation from Giving Glasgow.
