Look out for the new Light and Life statue which now stands proudly on top of the dome at 95 Morrison Street, one of Glasgow’s most prominent buildings. Twelve feet tall and gilded in 23 carat gold, the sculpture was made by artist Kenny MacKay who also created the Donald Dewar statue on Buchannan Street. The figure of a lady holding aloft a torch is a recreation of the original concrete statue that was removed from the top of the building in 1996 due to pollution damage. The new sculpture was put in place in the early hours of 16th June (pictured below). Lit up at night and gleaming in the sunshine the statue should be easy to spot from the Kingston Bridge as you pass by.
