Here are the charities and good causes that benefited from a Giving Glasgow donation in 2022:

Whiteinch Nursery School

Whiteinch Nursery School is situated in the west of Glasgow offering early years provision to over 140 children aged 2-5 years.  Many of the families of the children who attend the nursery live in areas of deprivation and the nursery also supports a number of care experiences children, in addition to several learners with Additional Support Needs which range from mild to complex.

They received a £500 donation from Giving Glasgow to allow them to buy outdoor tables, planters and a shelter to furnish their newly acquired outdoor space, which is currently an empty, concrete surface.

Blue Triangle Housing Association

Blue Triangle Housing Association is a social care organisation that empowers people to thrive by providing tailored, supported accommodation.

They received a £1,000 donation from Giving Glasgow to help them build a purpose built summer house at their Alexandria project, which will be used to provide a comfortable, dedicated space for their support sessions

SISCO

SISCO (Sustainable Interventions Supporting Change Outside) is a charity that supports prisoners by developing and delivering recovery initiatives within the Scottish Prison Service and beyond.

Their support model includes creating employment and volunteering roles, community outreach, providing health and wellbeing sessions, mentorship and supporting the transition form prison to sustaining a tenancy.

We were delighted to donate £500 to SISCO to help further develop their services.

190th Glasgow Company Boys’ Brigade

The Boys’ Brigade offers a prosocial programme of activity which builds a sense of citizenship and instils community values and life skills. This encourages boys to become socially responsible and active young adults.

We donated £500 to the group to purchase a large well-ventilated marquee-type shelter. This will help the group to continue during COVID-19, which has also impacted their ability to fundraise. This donation will benefit 32 service users.

Ronald McDonald House

Open 365 days a year, 24 hrs a day, Ronald McDonald House provides cost-free accommodation for any family in Scotland, whose child is a patient in the Royal Hospital for Children (RHC), Glasgow.

We recently donated £399 to Ronald McDonald House through our charitable fund, Giving Glasgow, to help contribute to the purchase of specialist chairs for mothers to breastfeed premature or highly unwell babies.

Distinctive Dance Academy

Distinctive Dance Academy is a community focused charity, promoting health and wellbeing through performing arts. Based in the Parkhead area of Glasgow, they provide free dance classes to youngsters, which helps tackle financial exclusion, builds confidence and improves fitness.

They received a £500 donation from Giving Glasgow.

Cerebral Palsy Scotland

Giving Glasgow made a £250 donation to Cerebral Palsy Scotland to help them make some much needed improvements to their multipurpose basement space at their Glasgow based centre.

Each year, the charity works with over 150 families affected by cerebral palsy – providing practical support and life skills. Their basement space will be used by several of their user groups, including young adults learning the skills to allow them to live independently, and their baby group.

Yoker Bowling Club

Giving Glasgow made a £240 donation to Yoker Bowling club to allow them to purchase six new pairs of bowling shoes for children that attend their Academy.

The club’s academy players come from the G13 and G14 postcode areas and the donation will allow them to continue to train and play in their community.

Give A Dog A Bone

Loneliness can affect anyone, but is especially prevalent in the older population. Give a Dog a Bone helps to tackle loneliness for older adults via animal companionship and friendship.

They received a £500 donation from Giving Glasgow which will be used to allow them to continue to provide free activities for older adults from their Shawlands based community space.

Govanhill People’s Pantry

The People’s Pantry in Govanhill is a membership based community based shop that provides good quality food at a reduced rate to 370 households, many of who would otherwise have to choose between heat or eat.

They received a £500 donation from Giving Glasgow to help them increase their supply of fresh fruit and veg.

Springlaw Early Learning Centre

Springlaw ELC is a Rutherglen based nursery, supporting 48 local families with childcare provision for nursery aged children.

The nursery is located within a housing estate and to access their nearest grassland, the children have to walk a distance.

Giving Glasgow made a £500 donation to the nursery to allow them to buy prams, trolleys, outdoor clothing and safety equipment which will allow them to safely access nearby greenspace.

Battlefield Primary School Parent Council

Battlefield Primary School Parent Council works closely with the school to fundraise for activities and resources that support and advance the education and prosperity for over 400 pupils.

We recently donated £250 to the Parent Council to help them purchase equipment and resources to improve outdoor learning and literacy skills for pupils.

SiMBA

We recently donated £500 to Simba Charity – a Scottish charity supporting families who have been affected by the loss of a baby during pregnancy or shortly after birth. Its Glasgow ‘Tree of Tranquillity’ is a life-size copper sculpture, where every leaf represents a baby who has passed away.

Funds will help to landscape a new site for the tree, making it a safe, comfortable, and accessible area for bereaved families to visit.

Drumchapel Early Years Centre

We’re delighted to be able to provide Drumchapel Early Years Centre with an award of £250 through our charitable fund, Giving Glasgow. The funds will help create a new calming space for pupils with additional support needs such as ADHD, visual and auditory impairments, and sensory processing disorders.

NSPCC

We recently donated £1,600 to NSPCC Scotland which will help towards recruiting and training two new volunteer counsellors for the Glasgow Childline Base.Volunteer Childline counsellors ensure children and young people have someone to turn to when in distress or danger.

North East Recovery Community

We donated £500 to North East Recovery Community, which provides peer-led support to individuals and families who are in recovery from addiction issues.

Funds will be used to support recovery cafes, which are a safe and confidential place to provide practical and emotional support and advice.

We Are With You

We recently donated £500 to We Are With You, which supports over 500 individuals and families who are impacted by drug and alcohol issues.

The funds will be used to expand their outdoors programme, which supports participants’ mental and physical wellbeing, and increases their confidence and self-esteem.

Ceann Creig Hurling and Camogie Club

We recently donated £250 to Ceann Creige Hurling and Camogie Club in Glasgow’s east end, which is hosting a hurling summer camp for children.

Funds will be used towards a hot meal and healthy snacks for the duration of the camp, ensuring activities are provided at an affordable level for all.

Gankirk Football Club

Garnkirk Football Club is a local community football club offering coaching/matches to local kids from age 5 through to 16. The 2012 club, (kids aged 9 and 10) have been invited to their first football festival in June which takes place in Blackpool. It is a 3-day match event which involves intense training.

We donated £150 to the club to help cover the costs of the festival.

Duntarvie Pre-School Assessment & Development Centre

We’re delighted to provide Duntarvie Pre-School Assessment & Development Centre with a donation of £500 through our charitable fund, Giving Glasgow.

The pre-school and development centre aims to help pre-school children with additional support needs whose placements run in conjunction with their main nursery placement. This donation will contribute towards development of their outdoor play area, helping to create a safe and stimulating outdoor space that is accessible for all the children.

Lochview Nursery

We recently donated £500 to Lochview Nursery. The funds received by Lochview Nursery will be used to encourage social inclusion among the children and adults through the introduction of “stay and play” sessions.

The funds will also be used to help set up an outdoor garden to allow the children to learn about the environment and keep active.

St Timothy’s Nursery School

We’re delighted to provide St Timothy’s Nursery School with a donation of £500 through our charitable fund, Giving Glasgow.

The funds will be used to help introduce a school library to allow the children and parents access to books and reading materials. The funds will also be used to help support children that have writing difficulties.

By providing this donation, we will be able to help contribute to the purchase of books and equipment and to assist in the launch of the new school library.

Cowcaddens Day Nursery

We’re delighted to provide Cowcaddens Day Nursery with an award of £500 through our charitable fund, Giving Glasgow.

The funds will be used to help develop awareness of sustainability, understanding the cycle of growing plants, produce, and to help cook food for families in the community to reduce waste.

Cosgrove Care

Cosgrove Care is a registered charity in Glasgow that work with children and adults with learning disabilities, autism, and additional needs. During the pandemic, with the support of 200+ volunteers, they worked to significantly increase the levels of support provided to local communities, providing emergency assistance with food packages, anti-boredom packages for children, and other items for those isolating and in financial hardship.

We donated £500 to the charity to help fund items for their new volunteering hub and to help provide volunteers with a valuable experience to assist them with career development into social care.

Ruchill Early Years Centre

We recently donated £1,000 to Ruchill Early Years Centre. The funds will be used to help create an outdoor learning space for the children to develop their senses and it will also be used as a community space for local families.

By providing this donation, we will be able to help contribute to the necessary items and and materials needed to create the outdoor area.

Drum Hub

Drum Hub is a local community charity who help support people within the Drumchapel area who may feel isolated or need support. The charity is run solely by volunteers and donations, providing two weekly group sessions to help support mental health and wellbeing.

We recently donated £500 to the charity to contribute towards enhancing their weekly sessions. The funds will be used to help support the cost of a trained therapist in their sessions, helping to improve and promote better mental health.

The Occasion Theatre

Occasion Theatre is a Glasgow-based theatre company, committed to widening access and participation in the arts for adults with learning disabilities.

We recently donated £500 to the Southside Group to help support live rehearsals, group members transport costs and venue hire.

Springburn Academy

We recently donated to £500 to Springburn Academy, through our Giving Glasgow fund.

This donation will be used to help run a training course in Make Up & Beauty for interested pupils at the school. The course will provide pupils with a variety of skills and education that can help them forge a career path in the beauty industry.

Glasgow Govan Gaelic Primary School

We’re delighted to provide Glasgow Govan Gaelic Primary School with a donation of £500 through our charitable fund, Giving Glasgow.

The school with a roll of 208 children are looking to promote outdoor exercise and mental wellbeing across the school. This donation will contribute towards purchasing outdoor equipment, which will encourage the children to become more active, having a positive impact on their mental health and wellbeing.

MENSELF+

MENSELF+ aim to improve the mental health and wellbeing of men throughout East Glasgow.

We recently donated £500 to MENSELF+ to help fund group sessions and increase capacity to allow for more attendees. Funds will help tackle financial exclusion, food poverty, and improve overall health and wellbeing.

The Indigo Childcare Group

The Indigo Childcare Group currently operates in Castlemilk and Garrowhill. They exist to empower families to overcome poverty and its challenges through the provision of affordable, innovative, family-informed learning and childcare solutions from birth to 16 years.

With the closure of many food banks and the restrictions on community larders, they are experiencing increased requests for food, utilities, and clothing. We recently provided the organisation with £500 to help with vouchers for these requests.

Alexandra Parade Primary School

We recently donated £350 to Alexandra Parade Primary School through our charitable fund, Giving Glasgow.

This donation aims to help Primary 7 pupils attend a residential trip in January 2023 to make closer friendships with their peers; and provide them with a positive experience. This donation will also help tackle the financial exclusion facing many pupils and their families.

St Philomena’s Enhanced Nurture Provision

St Philomena’s Enhanced Nurture Provision is a school-based resource, supporting children with additional support needs. The resource also helps support children who have difficulty regulating their emotions.

We recently donated £250 to St Philomena’s to help fund outdoor learning and play to improve pupils mental health and wellbeing.

Rockfield Nursery

Rockfield Nursery is situated in Barmulloch in the northeast of Glasgow, and provides education and care for children from birth until school age.

We recently provided the nursery with a donation of £250 to help develop an area for the children, parents, and staff to introduce an allotment to grow fruit and vegetables. This will help teach the children and parents about growing food and connecting with nature.

The Partick Pantry

The Partick Pantry is a food bank run by Dowanvale Free Church, for those residing in the community of Partick.

The cost-of-living crisis has put more pressure on the food bank to provide food parcels. We donated £500 to the pantry in order to help provide more parcels during the winter months to reduce food poverty and help tackle financial exclusion.

St Conval’s Primary School Parent Council

We recently donated £250 to St Conval’s Primary School Parent Council through our charitable fund, Giving Glasgow.

This donation aims to help introduce a garden space for pupils to grow their own produce and attract wildlife. The garden will provide 230 children and their families with access to an outdoor space.

Silverdale Nursery

We recently donated £250 to Silverdale Nursery in the east end of Glasgow. This donation will help the nursery purchase a variety of numeracy resources, in a bid to help close the poverty related attainment gap.

This donation will also enable the children to continue to develop their numeracy skills.

PEEK Project

Since 2000, PEEK has worked with children, young people, and their families throughout Glasgow impacted by poverty and inequality.

We recently donated £500 to the organisation through our charitable fund, Giving Glasgow. This donation aims to help fund items for PEEK’s winter appeal to help keep those impacted warm this winter.

Drumchapel Asian Forum

Drumchapel Asian Forum supports black and ethnic minorities, single parents, carers, refugees, and asylum seekers around the community of Drumchapel and Northwest Glasgow.

They organise weekly activities to promote unity and increase the health and wellbeing of their members.

We recently donated £500 to the group to provide a play leader for the children. This will help build the children’s social skills and confidence.

Broomloan Nursery

Located in Govan, Broomloan Nursery is not only a nursery, but they also off an in-house food bank and clothing exchange for its pupils and their families.

We recently donated £300 to the nursery to help them continue to support families during the cost-of-living crisis. This donation will also help tackle food poverty and financial exclusion faced by many families.

Westercraigs Nursery

Westercraigs Nursery is situated in the east end of Glasgow. The nursery recently started an eco-committee with the children to help look after the local community and recycling after the recent refuge strikes.

We recently donated £500 to the nursery to allow them to buy safe and effective litter picking equipment; and continue to care for their local environment. This will help highlight their efforts in the community and encourage more people to pick up and care for their surroundings.

The Safety Zone

The Safety Zone is the only staffed community facility for young people in the Bargeddie area.

With 250 members aged from 5 to 18, The Safety Zone offers a full range of activities every week, including music lessons, games, sports and I.T. projects.

Unfortunately, the centre recently incurred a flood damage and many of The Safety Zone’s music and play resources were ruined. Giving Glasgow made a £500 donation which will allow the group to buy a new electric keyboard, acoustic guitars and board games.

Include Me2 Club

Include Me2 Club is a volunteer-led charity, working with children, young people and adults with an additional support needs and/or disabilities (physical, learning and mental health).

Their activities and clubs operative throughout the G postcode and include weekly wellness walks, youth clubs, employability sessions, drama classes and a connect club for older adults feeling isolated.

The charity received a £500 donation from Giving Glasgow.

Tea in the Pot

Tea in the Pot is a drop-in support service for women of all ages. They provide a safe, relaxing space where women can socialise and make new friends.

The service helps women to feel more supported and confident to share with others they may be coping with difficulties, are under stress, have health issues, or feel isolated.

We recently donated £250 to the service to help fund the costs of a Christmas lunch to help reduce isolation over the festive period.

Buchylvie Nursery School

Through our charitable fund, Giving Glasgow, we recently donated £300 to Buchlyvie Nursery School.

This donation helped the school arrange a magical Christmas experience for the children, helping to reduce financial pressure on families during the festive period.

This donation will also help support the local community arts centre by allowing 32 children to see “Sleeping Beauty” at Platform in Easterhouse.

Dates-n-Mates

Dates-n-Mates is a dating and friendship agency run by and for adults with learning disabilities.

They put together between 12-14 social events a month in Glasgow mainstream venues, to give their members the chance to meet new people, to make friends, and to build lasting relationships.

We recently donated £500 towards the agency to contribute to supporting an event to help celebrate the achievements of their members and make them feel valued, less socially isolated, and part of a community.

Thistle Childcare Centre

We recently donated £300 to Thistle Childcare Centre through our charitable fund, Giving Glasgow.

The centre is currently caring for many children with additional support needs. This donation will be used to help create a sensory room, which over 30 children will benefit from.

JAM After School Care

We recently donated £300 to JAM After School Care in Easterhouse.

JAM provide high-quality and affordable childcare from primary 1-7. Due to the cost-of-living crisis, many parents are struggling financially.

Our donation of £300 helped to ensure that all the children received a small gift at Christmas as well as some basic warm essentials for the winter weather.

Chesters Nursery

We’re delighted to provide Chesters Nursery with a donation of £250 to help restart their “Chesters Storytellers” programme to help support children and families with literacy and provide access to books.
