Elmvale Nursery received £500 from Giving Glasgow. The donation will be used to rejuvenate a safe outdoor space for the children to play, which was sadly vandalised last year.
The new equipment will help support outdoor learning which provides relevance and depth to the curriculum in ways that are difficult to achieve indoors.
We recently donated £400 to Glasgow East End Community Carers to purchase toys and sensory equipment for a much-needed playgroup at the Carers Hub.
The Carers Hub is a new service for carers in the east end of Glasgow, launched in May 2016. They provide a variety of services and activities which aim to build capacity, reduce isolation, improve carers’ health & wellbeing physically and emotionally, and reduce their levels of stress.
We donated £200 to Faifley Art Group, a group of leisure artists which formed in 1988. The group’s aim is to develop skills in the form of educational visits, professional tuition and informal help from other group members.
The group’s main aim is to reduce social isolation for members, many of whom are pensioners and live alone. For those with health issues, volunteers collect them so they are not excluded from any events taking place.
Boswell AFC is an amateur football club which currently plays in the Greater Glasgow Amateur Football League.
The team is made up of young players in Glasgow, many who come from low-income or unemployed families.
The club benefited from a £500 donation from Giving Glasgow which will be used to help subsidise club fees, ensuring players who are struggling financially won’t be excluded.
Crimestoppers Scotland is an independent charity, dedicated to fighting crime across Scotland. They provide a service that enables members of the public to give information anonymously about crime or criminals. They work in communities where people are experiencing crime issues, ranging from drug dealing to domestic abuse.
The Fearless Youth Programme provides 11 to 16 year-olds an anonymous way to pass on information related to crime and provides free educational resources to schools and youth groups.
Southern Sound Hospital Radio is another charity to receive a donation from Giving Glasgow. The donation will be used to purchase a new computer server, allowing volunteers to continue broadcasting to the patients and staff of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
The hospital radio plays an important role, both therapeutically and environmentally, to patient’s well-being and recovery.

Park Villa Football Development received a donation of £500 from Giving Glasgow.
The football club is based in Govan and works with over 200 children aged between 18 months to 16 years old.
They plan to use the donation to purchase some much needed new training equipment, which they hope will help encourage even more children to join the club and become active.
Glasgow Soup is a crowd-funded initiative which hosts events where local people pitch ideas that benefit the community. The donation of £1,047 will help towards hosting their next event.

Sunnyside Primary School and Language Communication Unit recently received £1,000 from Giving Glasgow.
The donation will be used to create a new sensory room – a calming, quiet environment for pupils with autism to visit. Children in the mainstream setting will also have access to the room, supporting the health and wellbeing of all pupils.

The new nursery, located in Garthamlock, opened in January and has a capacity of 140.
The donation will be used to buy outdoor toys and equipment for their children, and fund resources for families to participate in their child’s healthy eating education.
Here are some of Knightswood Football Club 2009s squad, looking very pleased to have received a £500 donation from Giving Glasgow!
Founded in 2013, the club now has over 100 players, both boys and girls, aged 5 – 17.
The club will use the money to pay for training kits for the players, as well as new equipment such as balls, cones and goals.
Pollok Children’s Centre is a nursery which provides education and care for children from birth until school entry date and is open 52 weeks of the year.
A donation of £500 will be used to help create a safe and engaging outdoor play area for the centre’s young children to enjoy.
Here are some volunteers from Parkhead Citizens Advice Bureau, who received a Giving Glasgow donation of £450.
Local volunteers assist around 2,000 clients each year and provide a quality-assured advice service for people struggling with a low income, dealing with unmanageable debt, facing eviction, experiencing ill-health or disability, or facing the loss of a job.
The donation will be used to further develop the skills and expertise of volunteers.
Pupils at Oxgang Primary School in Kirkintilloch were delighted with their Giving Glasgow donation of £500.
The donation will go towards the purchase of iPads to support teaching and learning across the school, specifically to support careers education, digital learning and pupil profiling.
They will also be used at the coding club and the homework club (both after school).
Reidvale Youth Hub, part of the Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre, received a Giving Glasgow donation of £824.
The hub runs a very popular basketball club in Dennistoun, which sees at least 25 young people aged 11-25 attend each week.
The donation will be used to fund the hire of the hall until March 2019.
Clare O’Donnell is pictured receiving a Giving Glasgow donation of £300 towards St Roch’s Lunch Club in Royston.
The club, run by volunteers, supports older people in the community with various events helping to tackle social exclusion.
They will use the funds towards keeping the club operating and a taking its members on a day out.
The Physically Disabled Rehab Unit (PDRU) received a £2,000 donation from Giving Glasgow.
The PDRU is a purpose built unit in the grounds of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
The donation will be used to benefit patients and their families in numerous ways, including refurbishing the garden to improve accessibility for patients with mobility problems, and providing a relaxing space for families whilst they visit PDRU.
